Cashman Field Convention Center Hotels

Nestled in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, the Cashman Field Convention Center was built in 1983 following a donation from a city leader, James “Big Jim” Cashman. Its first professional game was on April 1, 1983; the San Diego Padres versus the Seattle Mariners.

The stadium spans 50 acres and seats more than 9,000 people. The $26-million facility also includes a 100,000-square-foot convention center, several meeting rooms and a nearly 2,000-person theater. Two exhibit halls also make their home here, and host a variety of festivals and cultural events throughout the year.

Operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Cashman Field has played host to several sporting events and teams. In 1996, the stadium was a temporary home to Oakland Athletics while renovations were taking place at their home field. Recently, the city has tried numerous times to attract a Major League baseball team to the dome, including the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins and Oakland Athletics.

An AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Las Vegas 51s is a local minor league team that plays there today. After a game or concert, be sure to visit the Club Level Restaurant, which offers sweeping views of the field.
